Adding and Applying a Custom Theme

OVERVIEW

In this tutorial, we will show users how to set up a Custom Theme in the LMS and the SMS. This custom theme will override the existing LMS theme of the students enrolled in your Companies. We will walk you through on how you can select the  logo as well as the theme color in the LMS. We will also show how you can select and apply this custom theme for your Companies in the SMS.

1. From the LMS homepage, go to Site Administration. 
2. Navigate through the Users tab.
3. In User Accounts, click User profile fields.

4. Click Create a new profile category to add a profile category for your Custom Theme.
5. Enter a Category Name.
6. Click Save changes.

7. Under the newly created category, click Create a new profile field and select a Text input to add a new LMS profile field.



8. Enter a Short Name. Type customthemename. The short name must be copied exactly the same. 
9. Enter a Name. This is the LMS profile field name that will be shown on the student's LMS profile page.

10. Scroll down and click Save changes.



11. To set up a new theme, go back to Users.
12. In User Accounts, select eSkilled Theme Override.

13. Select Create Override.



14. Enter the Theme Name.
15. Click Choose a file and upload the Company logo from your computer files.
16. Add a hex color code as your Primary Color. The Primary Color will be the main color visible on top of your students' LMS page. 
17. Add a hex color code as your Secondary ColorThe Primary Color will be the main color visible at the bottom of your students' LMS page. 
18. Click Save changes.

19. In the SMS, go to Settings.
20. Cick Sync Custom Themes to immediately sync your newly set up custom theme from the LMS to the SMS.
21. Click OK to confirm action.

22. Go to Companies and select the Company where you would like to apply the theme.



23. Scroll down and select the theme that you have set up from the LMS in the Custom Theme field.



24. Scroll up and click Update.
25. Click OK to confirm action.

IMPORTANT
  1. The Custom Theme is NOT retroactive. It does not apply to existing students in the Company.  The Custom Theme for these students needs to be manually changed or updated from their LMS profile page.
Site Administration > Users > Click Student Name > Edit Profile > Custom Theme 


  1. A Custom Theme can also be set at the program instance level. If a Custom Theme is set at a program Instance level and at a Company level, the Program Instance Custom Theme will take effect.
