How to Set a Prerequisite Unit at the Program Instance Level

How to Set a Prerequisite Unit at the Program Instance Level

OVERVIEW

In this tutorial, we will show users how set a condition at the program instance level where another program instance unit must be completed before students can access the LMS Course of a program instance unit. By enabling this setting, it becomes mandatory for students to finish one unit before they can move on to the next LMS course. This approach ensures that students maintain their focus on completing units that align with their training plan. It is especially beneficial in situations where specific subjects need to be taken and completed in a predetermined sequence.

Step Tutorial

1. From Programs, go to Program Instances.
2. Select the actual program instance.
3. Navigate through the Units tab.

Refer to the image below for Steps 1-3

4. Select the program instance unit that has a pre-requiste unit by clicking Action then Edit. In this example, BSBPEF502 has a prerequisite unit.

5. In the Only Enrol After Unit field, select the unit that MUST be completed before they can access the other unit. Students would only be enrolled to the LMS Course upon completion of the prerequisite unit. In the example below, students must complete BSBPEF402 before they can access BSBPEF502.
6. Click Update to save changes.

Refer to the image below for Steps 5-6

IMPORTANT
  1. The Program Instance Units must be integrated to the LMS Courses in the Program Instance Unit tab.
  2. In the student enrolment wizard, you can force enrol a student unit to LMS regardless of the trigger/condition set at the Program Instance Unit.
