How to Create Funding Sources for Contracts in the SMS (TAS)

Idea
Overview
To create contracts in the SMS, you must first set up funding sources.

In the VET (Vocational Education and Training) sector, funding source codes are used to identify the source of funding for specific training programs or qualifications.

In this tutorial, we’ll be creating funding sources in the SMS for TAS.
Warning
IMPORTANT: Funding sources can change over time and may vary depending on the specific training or qualification. Always verify with the relevant State Training Authority to confirm the funding sources for a particular contract.

Before creating contracts in the SMS, you'll need to set up funding sources. Funding source codes are used to identify the source of funding for a particular training program or qualification.

1. From the Dashboard, go to Finance, then Contracts, then Funding Sources. Click on the "New" button.



2. Enter the following information:
  1. Code – Enter the Funding Source Code.
  2. Active – Toggle this option on to make the funding source available.
  3. Name – Enter the Funding Source Name.
  4. Funding Source State – Select TAS from the dropdown.
  5. Funding Source National – Select the applicable Funding Source National from the dropdown. IMPORTANT: Confirm with your State Training Authority to ensure the correct mapping of state funding codes to national funding codes.
  6. Description – Provide a description for the Funding Source.
Once done, Click the “Save” button.



3. A prompt confirming the successful creation of the funding source will appear. Click "OK" to close it.



That's it! You've successfully created funding sources in the SMS for your contracts. Continue adding more funding sources as needed.
