Password security requirements are crucial for safeguarding sensitive information and preventing unauthorized access to accounts and systems. In the SMS, password security requirements can be adjusted to tailor password settings to meet your unique security needs. This feature ensures that you can personalize your security measures, ultimately fortifying the system against unauthorized access and data breaches. Step Tutorial
Step 1. Navigate to Administration > Settings > Details tab. In the Security section, a toggle to "Override Default Password Security" is available.
Step 2. Toggle the switch to "Yes" to allow you to customise your password requirements.
Step 3. Once enabled. additional fields will display in the Security section. Enter your desired setting for each field.
- Length - enter a number the set the minimum character length required for creating passwords to the system. Password length cannot be fewer than eight (8) characters.
- Uppercase Characters - enter a number to set the minimum number of Uppercase characters required for creating passwords to the system. Uppercase character requirement cannot be lower than one (1).
- Lowercase Characters - enter a number to set the minimum number of Lowercase characters required for creating passwords to the system. Lowercase character requirement cannot be lower than one (1).
- Special Characters - enter a number to set the minimum number of Special characters required for creating passwords to the system. Special character requirement cannot be lower than one (1). Special characters refers to symbols such as (@, $, !, &, % etc).
Note: The default character requirement is set to ensure that your system remains secured and protected.
Changes to the password requirement will reflect on the password prompts when users add or reset their passwords in the system. When the requirement is updated, all existing passwords will still work, however, when users update or reset their passwords they will be required to set up passwords that meet the new requirements.
Customising Password security requirements enables your organisation to remain secure while complying with industry security policies or your own internal security policies.
