How to Integrate/Establish Connection between SMS and MYOB

Overview
Integrating the SMS with MYOB enables automatic syncing of financial data such as invoices, payments, and student billing details. This helps reduce manual data entry, minimise errors, and streamline accounting processes for education and training providers. The connection is usually established through API. Key data fields from the SMS are mapped to corresponding fields in MYOB to ensure accurate financial records.

IMPORTANT
  1. Make sure to have a MYOB account before proceeding with this tutorial as most of the steps below will be done in MYOB. 
  2. Before proceeding with the steps below, ensure that your SMS admin account has been granted access to MYOB. If you haven’t yet requested this access, please contact eSkilled support at support@eskilled.com.au. Once MYOB access is provided, please log out of the SMS and log back in for the settings to refresh

Step Tutorial

To integrate or establish a connection between SMS and MYOB, please follow these steps: 

  1. Visit MYOB Developer at https://my.myob.com.au/ and log in.

    In order for the developer tab to display in your my. MYOB account, you will need to make sure that you have the correct account displayed in the drop down menu that appears in the top right hand corner of the my. myob website once you have signed in.)

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the “Developer” menu
  3. Within the Developer Dashboard, click on the “Register App” button.
  4. In the Application Details, provide the necessary information for the following fields: 
    1. App Name – Enter the public name of the application you are registering. This is the name people will see on the screen during the grant permission process. The App Name should be a name they are familiar with.
    2. Redirect URL – Enter your SMS URL followed by/Finance/MyobCallback/”, for example, https://sms.rto.net.au/Finance/MyobCallback/”.  
    3. Web Site Address – Enter your SMS URL, e.g., https://sms.rto.net.au/
    4. Description – Add a description. 
  5. Click on the “Register App” button. 
  6. Once the app is created, you will be taken back to the dashboard where you will find your application registered and your API Key and API Secret waiting for you. Copy the Key, Secret, and Redirect Uri tokens
  7. Log in to SMS and navigate to the Finance Page > MYOB Tab
  8. Paste the tokens copied from MYOB Developer: 
    1. MYOB Client ID (Key) 
    2. MYOB Secret (Secret)  
    3. MYOB Callback (Redirect Uri) 
    4. MYOB Serial Number – To find the MYOB Serial Number, Depending on your scenario, there's a few ways to find your serial number.
      d.1 
      In AccountRight 
      If have an AccountRight company file that's been activated you'll find your serial number in AccountRight's Company Informationwindow (open your company file and go to Setup > Company Information):

      d.2 Outside of AccountRight
      If you purchased or upgraded AccountRight from our website or downloaded a trial version, you'll find your serial number in the email confirming your download
      You can also check which serial numbers you’ve registered by logging into my.MYOB and going to My Products.

  1. Click on the “Save” button. Afterward, log out of SMS and then log back in. 
  2. After logging in to SMS, go to the Finance Page > MYOB Tab and click on the “Establish Connection” button. 
  3. Lastly, authorize access to MYOB by clicking on the “Allow Access” button.
