Overview
The Merge students function in a Student Management System (SMS) allows administrators to combine multiple student records into one. This is typically used when there are duplicate student entries in the system.
By merging the records, the system consolidates all relevant information, such as enrollments and personal details, under a single profile. This ensures data accuracy and prevents confusion from multiple records for the same student.
In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of merging students in the SMS.

Step Tutorial
1. From the sidebar menu, go to Reports then Student tab. Run a student report by selecting a saved report from the dropdown menu or by clicking New. Once done, click Search.
2. To enable the Merge feature, toggle to ON the Merge Mode field.
Once the toggle is ON, the checkbox column will appear:
3. In the table, locate the student you want to merge. You can use the inline filters to narrow down the results, as shown in the sample below.
4. Select the student to be merged by ticking the checkbox. Once selected, the Merge button will become available.

NOTE: The student chosen here will be deleted once merge is complete.
5. When the Merge button is clicked, the Merge Student modal will appear. Select the student you would like to merge into, then click Save.
A warning message will display once Save is clicked. You will need to type MERGE and then press MERGE button to proceed.
Once the merge is successful, this message will appear.

NOTE:
- All Enrolment-related data like the Enrolment, Units, Invoices, and all associated data from Student ID 134579 will be merged to Student ID 353101.
- Student-related data for Student ID 353101 will be retained.
This is the enrolment records of ST-353101 BEFORE merge.
AFTER merge:
NOTE: After the merge, Student 134579 has been deleted. Notice that it has been removed from the Student Report. Refer to Step 4 for reference.
And that’s how to merge students in the SMS!
