How to Select Elective Units

How to Select Elective Units

Idea
Overview

This tutorial will show you how to allow the selection of elective units for a Program instance.

With the ability to select electives, training organisations can now offer variations in the packaging rules of their programs without creating multiple program instances. This provides your training organisation flexibility in your product offering, gives students option to select their own units from your offered electives, and streamlines your program instance lists.

Warning
IMPORTANT:

Before we proceed in the step tutorial you have to enable first the selection of electives for the program instance.

To do that, go to Programs > Program Instances > then search and select for the program instance where you want to select elective units.

Go to Details tab, turn ON Allow Elective Unit Selection then specify the number of elective units for your program.

In your Program Instance, add all the elective options available for your students to select.

Notes
Step Tutorial

1. Setting an Elective Unit as Default

From the sidebar menu, go to Programs > Program Instances > search and select for the program instance > click Units tab > then click New.

InfoNOTE: Once the toggle to allow the selection of elective units is turned ON, a tick box is displayed when adding units to that program.

  • Users can set Elective units as default selection - when a unit is set as default, this elective will be turned on automatically during enrolment.

  • Selected elective units set as default will be displayed in the Program Instance Units data table under the Default Elective Column.

2. Selecting Electives During Enrolment

Using the Enrolment Form:

  • Students will be able to select their preferred Elective Units in the Elective Unit Choices section on the external enrolment form. This section is displayed just before the Student Declaration section for both Express and Standard Enrolment Forms.

  • Elective Units that are set as Default Elective in the related Program Instance will automatically be toggled ON in the External Enrolment Form. The set Default Units will be displayed first before the other Elective Units
  • For External Enrolment, students can only select the same number of Elective Units that was set on the Program Instance > Details tab.

Using the Enrolment Wizard:

  • Users can select the Elective Units under the Elective Units Choices tab only when adding new enrolments.

  • If a user selects more elective units than what was originally set, this message will show

And that’s how you can select elective units in the SMS.
