How to Connect a Program Instance to a Single Course in the LMS

Idea
Overview

To ensure that your student's progress in the eSkilled Learning Management System is properly synced to the SMS, setting up the connection between the LMS course and the SMS program instance is necessary. With this connection, your SMS will be updated with the student's progress such as course commence, completion, grades, progress history and outcomes. This reduces the time and effort required for the administrative work of entering data into the two systems.

This tutorial will show you how to connect your SMS program instance to a single course in the LMS. Use this integration method if you have your Programs (eg. Qualifications, Skill sets, Courses) set up as a single course in your LMS.

For connecting an SMS program to multiple LMS courses, refer to this tutorial: How to Connect Program Instance Units to Multiple Courses in the LMS

Info
Note: In the eSkilled SMS, a LMS course is usually equivalent to a SMS unit.

Important: Before integrating the unit in the SMS, make sure that you have set up your course in the LMS and that the LMS is connected to the SMS.

These steps can also be applied during the Program Instance creation.

  1. In the SMS, go to the side menu, click Programs > Program Instance tab.
  2. Select the Program Instance you would like to connect to the LMS course. Locate the LMS Course (Program to Single Course) to set up the connection.

  3. This dropdown menu will open a new window to select the LMS Course.
  4. In the LMS Category drop down, select ALL to search within all categories or select the specific category where the unit (LMS Course) belongs to.

  5. Selecting a specific category will filter the available courses in the Course drop down, making it easier to find the course to set up the connection.

  6. Select the LMS Course then click Select Course to proceed with the selection or Cancel to abandon the action.

  7. Click Update then click OK in the confirmation window.

  8. Click Validate to validate the LMS Integration.

Once validated, the Validate button will no longer display and will be replaced by a Validation message.

Your SMS Program should now be connected to your LMS Course.  Test enrolments from the SMS to ensure that you have everything set up correctly, and that your test students are correctly enrolled into the LMS course.
