Overview

Exporting AVETMISS (Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard) data from the Student Management System (SMS) is essential for compliance with national reporting requirements. This data includes detailed records of student enrolments, courses, and completions. Generating AVETMISS data ensures that training organisations can accurately report their activities to government bodies, which is crucial for maintaining funding, accreditation, and transparency. The process involves setting up the reporting parameters in the SMS and exporting the data in the required format.

  1. In Settings, click AVETMISS.
  2. Choose the report period that will cover your exported NAT Files.
    First, select a Start Date.


  3. You can click the Previous or Next icon in the calendar when choosing dates.

  4. For this example, select 1 January 2021.
  5. Next, select an End Date. For this example, select 31 December 2021 for the End Date.
  6. Select the Type or Reporting State from the drop-down menu.
  7. Select a Funding Source from the Funding Filter drop-down list.
  8. Tick Include All State Reporting Programs if you have programs required to be reported to the state. If you are only reporting to NCVER, you may leave it unticked.
  9. Tick Report NAT00030A for Program file if you would like to include NAT00030A in your report.
  10. You can include students who haven't started their programs yet by ticking the Include NYS Students checkbox. Otherwise, you may leave it unchecked.
  11. Click Export to download the file.
