How to Validate a Certificate Using the Certificate QR Code

How to Validate a Certificate Using the Certificate QR Code

Idea
Overview
When a student completes all the requirements in their qualification, the certificate issued contains a QR code that allows third-parties such as prospective employers, training organisations or government agencies to check the validity and authenticity of the certificate. This helps with quality assurance and compliance.

This tutorial will quickly walk you through how to use the QR code embedded in an issued certificate to check for the Certificates validity and authenticity.

Notes
Step Tutorial
1. To start the validation process, use a QR Code scanner and scan the QR code embedded in the certificate.

2. Once scanned, this will open a tab in the browser where the certificate can be validated. Enter the required details to start the validation.

a. Enter the Certificate Number or the Statement of Attainment (SOA) Number found in the Certificate.

b. Enter the Student’s Last Name.
c. Click Confirm Certificate Number to start the validation.

3. Once the confirmation button is clicked, the student’s name, date of certificate issue and the Qualification/Course will be displayed. Users can compare this information with the actual certificate to check if it matches.

4. If the Certificate number or the Last Name does not match with the certificate information, the validation will also display an “Invalid Certificate” message. Similarly, if the certificate number or the student does not exist in the RTOs database records, the same message will also display.

Using the QR code provides potential employers and other third parties a quick and convenient way to confirm the accuracy, validity and authenticity of your student’s certificates. Students are assured that they are provided a valid certificate and third parties can rely on the integrity of the submitted certificates.

That's it! You have now validated a certificate using the certificate QR code.
